No More Boring Constitution Lessons!

Teachers often complain that teaching the Constitution can be dry and boring. Not with the Constitution History Mystery! Your students will become history detectives on a mission to find the “Constitution Key,” a vital artifact that has gone missing. Ben Franklin himself sends them a letter, urging them to uncover the key and safeguard the nation’s future. To succeed, they will solve puzzles, decipher clues, and gain a deep understanding of the Constitution’s key principles.

This unit is all about rich content and fun! No fluff or locks, just engaging activities for your students. They will read, match, fill in the blanks, and tackle various exercises. But don’t worry, we’ve made sure to include enjoyable puzzles, rhymes, and clues that are both educational and entertaining—no cheesy gimmicks, we promise!

Very Little Prep

Preparation is minimal, requiring only copying and cutting the Key Puzzle pieces (1 set per group) and Tarsia puzzles (1 set per group), and making student copies for each clue. We’ve meticulously laid out the prep and process for each clue, making it easy to guide your students through the experience.

To make the most of this unit, we recommend teaching one clue at a time, with students in groups. Depending on your class period length or the time allocated for social studies, your class can progress through one or two clues in a session. We do not recommend conducting this unit in stations, as some groups may finish sooner than others.
